The history of summer sangria and how it became a popular summer drink

sangria is a refreshing, fruit-filled drink that is perfect for summertime. This Spanish classic has been around for centuries, and its popularity has only grown in recent years. Here is a brief history of summer sangria and how it became the popular drink it is today.

Sangria is thought to have originated in Spain during the Middle Ages. At that time, wine was often mixed with fruit and spices in order to make it more palatable. This drink was known as ‘sangria’ (or ‘sangaree’), which comes from the Latin word for ‘blood’. This likely refers to the reddish color of the wine when it is mixed with fruit.

Sangria remained a popular drink in Spain, and eventually made its way to other countries in Europe and Latin America. In the United States, sangria became popular in the 1960s and 1970s as more people began to travel to Spain and other countries where the drink originated.

Today, sangria is enjoyed by people of all ages and is often served at summer parties and gatherings. It is typically made with red wine, although white wine and rosé wines are also used. Fruits such as oranges, lemons, and limes are added to the wine, along with sugar and sometimes brandy.

There are many different recipes for sangria, so feel free to experiment and find the perfect blend for you. Whether you’re enjoying a glass at a party or sipping on one at the beach, summer sangria is the perfect drink to beat the heat..Click Here
